Product Description

The Omron CJ1W-PRM21 (CJ1WPRM21) is a PROFIBUS-DP Control Module master from the CJ1 series. This Control Module is a special module that can manage the PROFIBUS network. The master Control Module has to use the dedicated configuration program CX-PROFIBUS. If the CJ1W-PRM21 fails to participate in this specific configuration, it will be impossible for the module to make any data exchange. Besides this, the Omron master module will operate under certain Microsoft Windows programs such as NT 4.0, 2000, or XP.

The CJ1W-PRM21 Control Module is permitted to connect with 16 PROFIBUS network applicable PLCs in an Omron configuration that is likewise configurable to a PROFIBUS network. The master module has a port that connects to an RS-485 cable which is galvanically isolated from the PLC. The module does not directly append to a personal computer, by being a member of the Omron configuration the module can connect to the computer using an EIA RS-232C cable and attach it to the peripheral port or RS-232C port. Then the CX-configurator CD program may be inserted in the personal computer, creating the PROFIBUS network. The Omron configuration, which the master module is a part of, may be mounted on either a CPU rack or a CJ1 expansion.

The CJ1W-PRM21 Control Module has a current consumption of 400mA when the voltage is at 5VDC. The dimensions of the master module are 31mm by 90mm by 65mm (1.22in by 3.54in by 2.56in). The configurator may also choose one of the twelve selected baud rates that range between 9.6 kBit/s to 12 Mbit/s.
